- Arrowpoint is has hired Morgan Stanley rates trader Michael Chew and Squarepoint’s commodities-focused PMs, Chen Long and Zhi Cong Go who joined in Singapore. The firm also hired Iron Birch PM and co-CIO William Huang in Hong Kong. The firm has hired Andrew Freyre-Sanders, the former head of trading analytics at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority as COO.
- Balyasny Asset Management has added Sean Hammersley as a portfolio manager. Hammersley was most recently managing director and co-head of the convertible bond team at Jefferies. Prior to Jefferies, Hammersley was a managing director at Deutsche Bank and an accountant at KPMG.
- Balyasny has added portfolio managers from Goldman Sachs and Centrica Energy. George Tyrrell joins from Goldman where he was as an executive director focused on trading UK government bonds. Thomas Bang joins after nearly five years at Centrica Energy, where he worked as head of trading and new markets.
- BlueCrest Capital Management has added José Arivar De Lira Junior as a senior portfolio manager in London. Junior, was most recently head of FICC trading at BNP Paribas, where he managed a team of five traders and was based in São Paulo, Brazil.
- Capula Investment Management has tapped a former senior ExodusPoint executive as CEO. Enrico Corsalini is understood to have joined the $30bn manager earlier this month.
- Citadel has appointed Nathan Perrone from multi-strategy rival Millennium as Chief Compliance Officer for its global equities and Ashler Capital businesses.
- Gemcorp Capital has Chris Bell to work as chief compliance officer in London. Bell’s most recent role was at Ares Management Corporation, where he worked between 2019 and 2021 as head of European compliance. He previously worked at OxFORD Asset Management as CCO.
- Jain Global, the new multi-manager hedge fund firm launched by former Millennium Management Co-Chief Investment Officer Bobby Jain, has hired Squarepoint Capital’s Ali Rauf as a portfolio manager. The firm has also hired BTG Pactual’s John Searle as a portfolio manager in London.
- Millennium has hired Jonathan Hjelte a former Citadel partner to run a new internal portfolio focused on industrials.
- Point72 has hired former Bank of America trader Stergios Pantostis as a portfolio manager. Pantostis, who most recently spent over a decade at Moore Capital as a portfolio manager, will move from London to join Point72’in Dubai.
- Verition has hired John Keighley as the new operational risk head from Citadel. Prior to joining Citadel in 2018, Keighley spent roughly six years at Credit Suisse as the since-acquired investment bank’s operational risk head in the Americas.
- Y-Intercept has hired Yuichi Yamashita joined this month after leaving Millennium in Hong Kong at the end of Q1. Yamashita previously worked at Millennium for five years.
